Summary of the project
Strandhotel Westduin is located directly behind the lowest dune crossing of Walcheren near Vlissingen, only 50 meters from the sea and beach. In 2021, Strandhotel Westduin has grown into an ideal location for a beach holiday, weekend getaway, business meeting, overnight event in Zeeland. Strandhotel Westduin feels strongly connected to the environment. Attention to people, planet and profit is a structural part of the policy. As a result, sustainability is integrated into all business activities.
Strandhotel Westduin has been looking for a good starting point for reducing and improving separate waste flows. Green waste (including vegetables, fruit, swill, coffee grounds) is a significant waste stream within the hotel. The issue is how they can make it circular. A business plan was therefore written with the help of the experts within FACET.
Business plan
In 2021, 24 coastal tourism entrepreneurs were enthusiastic to work towards a more circular business and presented us their specific challenges and needs. All of them stepped into an individual coaching program with external experts.
Early 2021, the experts accompanied the entrepreneurs in defining their needs more precisely. During several coaching sessions the experts were able to guide the entrepreneurs towards the circular solutions that fit their specific needs and business. Feasible and tailor-made advice was given and written down in a Circular design proposal and action plan. This resulted in a final Business plan.
