Camping en Villapark de Paardekreek is a family business located in Kortgene at the Veerse Meer and was founded 50 years ago. It has grown into a vacation park with numerous facilities, such as a water playground, outdoor swimming pool, outdoor playground, indoor playground, beach with jumping tower and cable car. In addition, there is a Grand Café and a supermarket.
The park consists of 94 bungalows on the Villapark, these bungalows are owned by owners and managed and rented by the Paardekreek. It also has seasonal pitches, annual pitches, camping pitches and various rental accommodations, such as a houseboat and a circular creek suite.
Every guest wants a unique vacation experience and therefore comes to De Paardekreek. Together with our team we do everything we can to give our guests this unique experience. We receive different target groups, families with children for which an animation team is ready during the vacation period, guests who want to explore the area by bike or walking and water sports enthusiasts who go sailing, surfing and swimming.
The guests are constantly looking for new accommodations and new experiences, therefore we want to build circular accommodations, with this we hope to meet the changing market. If the accommodation is rebuilt in ten years’ time, the materials can be reused and if the accommodation does not meet the requirements of the tourist in 20 years’ time, it can be disassembled and the materials can be reused.

The Blue Cluster (Belgium)
The Blue Cluster is officially recognized by the Flemish Government to support and invest in innovation in Blue Tourism. Within this domain, DBC has, together with the Blue Economy-industry and its academic partners, developed a roadmap Blue Tourism, which contains, amongst other priorities, a business-driven shift towards sustainable tourism. DBC is a member-led organization with industrial compagnies active in construction-, water-, project development industry as well as retailers and hotels. There is a strong believe that part of the successful introduction of circular economy in the tourism industry will come from spill-offs from other industries. DBC has a structural cooperation with VITO which is the leading Flemish research institute to work on circular economy.
Blue Tourism is a new domain to be explored by DBC and by any organisation for that matter. DBC sees possibilities to link more industrial-driven CE projects with the tourism sector yet requires support and feedback from more experienced partners in the tourism sector to make this possible spill-over into reality. The FACET-project enables DBC to introduce the concept of CE into the tourism industry in a structural, organized and convincing way. This project can be the start of a much needed smart and sustainable shift in an important coastal economy.

Tourism plays a strong role in the regional economy of Norfolk and we are privileged to be in a location hosting a considerable stretch of coastline and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in addition to Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). At Norfolk County Council our Community and Environment Services works to unite communities, stakeholders and businesses to ensure economic activities co-exist with conservation policy and sustainable growth.
We are experienced in project delivery with strong communication, organisation and management skills. Our team had experience in developing low impact tourism initiatives based on natural and heritage assets. As a Project Partner we aim to drive an engaged, proactive partnership, supporting all FACET Project Partners in knowledge exchange and co-working.
The visitor economy is the 6th largest industry in Norfolk. In 2018 we received 937 million visitors Apr-Sept and 594 million in winter. This large influx of visitors in summer places strain on our resources. FACET will support modal shift towards a sustainable circular model, re-organising the coastal tourism industry to unlock lasting economic benefit. We will gain close and collaborative working with leisure and tourism sectors in the sub-region of the Great Yarmouth Borough.
