The entrepreneurs’ awareness of the benefits of circular economy practices seems to be sufficient but more emphasis needs to be placed on knowledge campaigns, technologies, regulations/guidelines as well as information about financial incentives and financing vehicles to support CE implementation. We want to put forward a 6-step CE Strategic Framework that would help local authorities to stimulate tourism and hospitality SME’s to adopt CE Solutions:
- Create a climate for change
- Establish a change framework
- Stimulate process & innovation thinking by engaging the SMEs in a coaching programme
- Show evidence-based solutions
- Push implementation via small financial incentives & further knowledge exchange
- Set up a broad communication campaign to the consumer to create awareness
